Here's the abstract of the recent article "The ecological role of bivalve shellfish aquaculture in the estuarine environment: A review with application to oyster and clam culture in West Coast (USA) estuaries" by Dumbauld, Ruesink  and Rumrill.

The 2007 revision of the National Shellfish Sanitation Program, Guide For the Control of Molluscan Shellfish, has been posted on the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) web site here. This document supersedes the 2005 Model Ordinance document for the safe and sanitary control of the growing, processing and shipping of molluscan shellfish. November 13, 2008.
